What happens between the close and the gala

Between the close and the gala, an entry that has cleared profile completion and team approval moves to final jury data and then to the jury. Shortlisted nominees may hear from the awards team in October with a request for more; nobody else does, because the shortlist is not published. On the night, winners are announced and told their winning category; winner packages are offered afterwards and are optional. From Hong Kong the gala is a direct flight of about eight hours — book once results are known, or do not go; the result is the same either way.
