The short version. Companies in the New Territories and on Lantau enter the Asia Best of Best Awards in manufacturing, logistics, technology, aviation, education or healthcare; technology companies can add the World Technology Awards, airlines and airport businesses the International Travel Awards; leaders enter the World CEO, Golden Women and Golden Entrepreneur Awards. From USD 299; entries close on 15 September 2026.

North of Kowloon and west across the water, Hong Kong changes character. Sha Tin holds the Science Park, the Chinese University and the racecourse; Kwai Tsing the container terminals that made the city a port; Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tuen Mun the industrial estates, warehouses and cross-boundary logistics yards; Tseung Kwan O the data centres, the Advanced Manufacturing Centre and the film studios; Yuen Long and the north the fish ponds, the farms and the Northern Metropolis — the new towns, technology parks and Loop being built along the Shenzhen boundary; and Lantau the airport with its cargo terminals, MRO hangars, AsiaWorld-Expo, the Disneyland resort and a planned airport city.

That mix makes the district a place of production, movement, research and infrastructure stories. This guide sets out the programmes that fit and the evidence a jury will expect.

How a jury reads the New Territories and Lantau

An industrial, logistics or research nomination is judged on the same published criteria as any other, and the evidence that counts is specific: output, throughput, tonnage and their growth (indexed if confidential); safety and quality certifications and audits; on-time and service metrics; customer audits; automation and Industry 4.0 progress; research-to-product milestones and spin-outs; energy and emissions results; and, for airport and port businesses, the third-runway and terminal ramp-up. Contribution to national programmes — re-industrialisation, the Northern Metropolis, the Greater Bay Area — is distinctive context when scope and outcomes are stated.

District nominees compete at country level by default and at Asia level in the regional programme.
